Band news newest to oldest newest not in order

quote:

Hey boys and girls, hope all is well and we hope you've been nice. Christmas is almost here and we couldn't be more exicted. First off, we'll be closed for a week, and I'll be going to Europe for New Years! 2005 has been a pretty strange and exciting year, we had the "hiatus" of blink, the explosion of Fall Out Boy and new music on the horizon from Mark and Tom... in separate bands. WIERD!!! There were a few amazing records released including, Motion City's "Commit This To Memory", Lydia's "This December; it's one more and I'm free" and of course "The Everglow" by Mae. We've never been more proud of our friends and family and hope 2006 is even better for them all! So, as a little thanks I tracked down Mark Hoppus who seems to have taken a "hiatus" from wasting bandwidth on his podcast to record a little Merry Christmas message for you guys, it's short but with the schedule that guy has I'm surprised we even have this to offer. So Merry Christmas, and happy New Year!!!

Mark's sixth podcast is up now, and he left us this note:

12-6-05 - hello patient and understanding podcastees. How are you? Or, rather, what it do? I'm fine, thanks. A bit busy, what with recording almost every day and all. Anyway...if you haven't figured it out yet, there is no podcast this week. It isn't because I hate you. Or because I hate myself. It’s because I've been in the studio, getting down with some +44, celebrating my 5th wedding anniversary and working with some rad bands. I have the songs all picked out for the next podcast, which should find its way to your computer next sooner or later, if not before, complete with the witty banter and passive aggression you've come to expect. Remember, a podcast that I’m paying for out of my own pocket is only as good as the time I kill recording it. And sometimes not even that good. Actually, scratch all that. I just decided to blame the whole fiasco on our new studio guy, James Ingram. No, not THE James Ingram, but A James Ingram nonetheless. A little bit about James: he is from Brattleboro, Vermont. Last month he quit his job at the bank and moved out to the city of angels to pursue a career in the recording industry. He is a Leo and enjoys hockey. He also accepts blame in situations where I am too lazy to record podcasts. He says hi.

Sick Of It All has now been confirmed by the organisation, and it looks like Comeback Kid will be joining Raised Fist for their April tour, so it's very likely they will play the festival too.

The band will begin working on the new release with rehearsals in mid-January and also plans to begin writing for their third album which does not yet have a release date.
Happy Christmas Volume 4 is in stores now! Click here now and listen to seven songs off the album featuring tracks from Aaron from Underoath and Kenny from The Starting Line, Emery, Mae, Relient K, Hawk Nelson, and Copeland.

After Mark and Travis posted a new track on their site, you know Tom Delonge couldn't stay far behind. There's a trailer up for his new project, Angels And Airwaves.

Thats's right Useless ID have been nominated for "Best Band of 2005" by the Israeli Music Channel, think of it as MTV Israel. This nomination comes for their latest release "Redemption" produced by Bill Stevenson (Descendents, ALL).

Apparently, Bomber Manzullo of RKL has passed away. RKL, or Rich Kids on LSD, was a fixture of the 90s Santa Barbara punk scene. Two members of the band, guitarist Chris Rest and drummer Dave Raun, went on to join Lagwagon, while Bomber joined Rest to form The Other. More info when we get it!

Wow, a new Fat Wreck Chords website?

Choke have posted a video for their song "Breathing Won't Come Easy" right here.

Vagrant Records have signed North Carolina's The Comas, the band will head into the studio in mid-January alongside producer Bill Racine (Rogue Wave, Mark Gardener) and an early summer 2006 release is planned.

Moneen released their split with Alexisonfire earlier this year, and has recorded their new album with producer Brian McTernan. News

Saves The Day are planning on releasing Sound The Alarm in early 2006. It's the band's first studio effort since 2003's In Reverie. The band released Ups & Downs, a compilation of their b-sides and rarities in 2004. No label has been announced for the upcoming release.

High Fidelity Records recently welcomed two new bands to the roster: hardcore acts Gung Ho and Lead By Example. The label plans to debut the two bands with a limited edition, color vinyl split 7” soon.

In related news, labelmates Countless Shadows are hitting the studio within the next few months to record some new material for a 7” due out in 2006. Until the Fall are putting the finishing touches on their new full-length CD which is also expected next year. Finally, The Wrath are in the final stages of mixing and mastering their new full length. If all goes as planned, the follow up to their It’s Over, I’m Done should see the light of day in early 2006.

The label also recently launched their online web store.

Warped Tour

Underoath is the latest band confirmed for the 2006 edition of the Warped Tour. They will join the lineup which includes Anti-Flag, Thursday, Rise Against, NOFX, Motion City Soundtrack, and From First to Last.

The Solid State act recently released the deluxe version of the 2004 release, They're Only Chasing Safety which included a new layout from Converge frontman Jacob Bannon, as well as four rare tracks including one from the vinyl release of Chasing Safety and early demos from the Chasing Safety sessions. Rounding out the package is a DVD which aims to document a "behind the scenes" look at the band.

Though the first band was confirmed only in the first half of November, the upcoming Warped Tour has already seen some controversy, particularly the recent letter from organizer Kevin Lyman about bands taking advantage of the tour's vast reach and sponsorship opportunities.

In related news, bands looking to perform on the Hot Topic/Kevin Says Stage can expect an online application form to be available as early as January 1st, 2006.

Update: Against Me! has been confirmed for the tour as well. The Fat Wreck Chords band, whose label recently launched their revamped website, released Searching for a Former Clarity earlier this year, headlined Fat's recent label tour, and also have dates planned in the UK and Australia early next year

Snapdragon Records has confirmed that All-American Rejects touring keyboardist Tim Jordan has passed away. The 24-year-old Camden, Arkansas native reportedly committed suicide in his hometown yesterday.

Jordan's musical origins trace back to Snapdragon Records band Welton, for whom he played guitar. Welton broke up earlier this year, and Jordan consequently went on to join Number One Fan as that band's touring keyboardist before ending up in the Rejects camp this past Summer.

Snapdragon's site made a post about the tragedy, mentioning in part:

Tim was loved by all and was amazing with his fans... He was well known for his great live performance and interaction and his ability to communicate and seem to care about all! He lived breathed and ate music.
Our deepest condolences go out to Jordan's family and friends.

In the bulletin, the band revealed the title of their upcoming March 28th, 2006 full length which follows their 2004 full length The Curse. The band is wrapping up recording for A Deathgrip on Yesterday and adds: "if you think you know what to expect you are most likely wrong."

The band explained that they:

held back certain things sonically because we were afraid to deviate from the "Atreyu" sound. We have thrown that all out the window to write some of the most honest songs we have ever written.

One of the songs, "Her Portrait in Black," will make its first appearance on the previously announced Underworld: Evolution soundtrack which is due out January 10th. They also plan to debut material on the Taste of Chaos 2006 tour which is scheduled to begin in February.

The band recently completed the follow up EP despite recently parting ways with both their label - Columbia - and guitarist Jasten King. Also in the works is a new full length with recording scheduled for January 2006 and touring to follow thereafter. They are currently searching for a label to release the EP and the full length

The group is currently in the process of an exhaustive search for "the totally raddest singer ever" so they can go on tour and "totally slay". The band promises that they sound "sorta like, but completely different that our other bands."

Though the lineup hasn't been finalized, plans are already being laid for an EP and a corresponding tour. Interested vocalists in the Portland, Oregon area - who slay - can contact the band's guitarist at this email address

"Blink will never break up," DeLonge said wednesday before a Box Car Racer show at West
Hollywood's legendary Whisky A Go-Go. "We love what we do way too much for anything ever to happen to Blink, and we are so blessed by the man upstairs to even have that in our lives. That's our passion. This is just part two of that."
and why did they break up?

Blink-182 announced Tuesday they are going on an "indefinite hiatus," possibly bringing to a close their decade-plus career of catchy but angsty radio hits, goofball videos, stand-up comedy stage banter and millions of albums sold worldwide.

"for over a decade, Blink-182 has toured, recorded and promoted nonstop all while trying to balance relationships with family and friends. To that end, the band has decided to go on an indefinite hiatus to spend some time enjoying the fruits of their labors with loved ones," a statement from the band's management read. "While there is no set plan for the band to begin working together again, no one knows what tomorrow may bring."

After Blink pulled out of this weekend's Music for Relief: Rebuilding South Asia concert in Anaheim, California (see
"Linkin Park, Jay-Z, No Doubt Rock The House To Rebuild South Asia"), and posted only a vague explanation of the cancellation on Blink182.com, fans began to speculate that Blink had split up, posting rumors they'd heard from anonymous backstage sources or "friends of the band."

But it was Dave Navarro ÃÆ’¢â‚¬” who played the concert with his group Camp Freddy ÃÆ’¢â‚¬” who really threw gasoline on the fire when he posted the following on his blog, 6767.com: "As I mentioned, Ozzy pulled out due to a family situation, but the big shock came when Blink-182 pulled out. Evidently, they broke up yesterday. ... I know how it can get when it's just not working anymore. ... Anyway, best of luck to those guys."

Though Navarro would later rescind his comments (and change the initial post), the rumors persisted throughout the weekend and led to Tuesday's announcement. There is no word on whether or not the hiatus will affect any of the bandmembers' side projects, which include the bands Boxcar Racer and the Transplants as well as various business endeavors

Midtown have changed their summer plans and will now be recording the follow-up release to the reinventive Forget What You Know, and because of this will now only be performing the final 5 dates on Warped tour. They are to be replaced by Armor For Sleep who will now be seen on the first half of the tour (in the west and midwest), and Scary Kids Scaring Kids who fill in the remaining gap. More details at Smartpunkonwarped.com.

Axl Rose once sang, “Nice boys don’t play rock ’n’ roll.” Apparently, he’s never met Norma Jean. These Atlanta, Georgia, natives have spent the last five years on the road, relentlessly playing basements and ballrooms, expanding their uniquely organic fan base with each show they play. Punkbands.com reporter Greg Weissel met up with Norma Jean at the Santa Cruz date of their tour supporting Atreyu and Unearth

Bracket has posted four new tracks on their Myspace page. You can click here to check out "Warren's Song Pt. 11," "Warren's Song Pt. 12," "Warren's Song Pt. 24," and "Warren's Song Pt. 26," all of which are taken from the band's forthcoming Fat full-length, Requiem.

From Evergreen Terrace: We have been getting a lot of questions/emails these past couple weeks asking if the rumors about Chris leaving the band are true or not. Now is probably the best time to let everyone know that Evergreen Terrace and Chris Brown have parted ways. Our long time friend, Brad Moxey, is now playing drums. We wish Chris the best of luck.

The Vandals have officially launched a website telling the full story of their experiences in Iraq and Kuwait, including the aftermath, complete with pictures and video from their tour

This update comes from Riley: So after months of jumping legal hurdles, multiple edits and re-edits, and multiple/near deadly Red Bull benders by our friends at eatdrinkmedia, the DVD is finally out. I hope those of you who have it already, are enjoying it, and those of you are on the fence about buying it, go out and get it. i finally watched the whole thing in it's entirety tonight, and i'm really happy with how it came out (minus the few embarrassing moments that i wish i'd have put the video camera down and just gone to bed).

it's long, and thorough, and if you've been with us for a while it gives you a pretty good insight into who we are and why we do what we do (beyond what we share on the site, in interviews, and in video updates). and for those of you who are just joining us, i think it does a great job of getting you up to speed on what you might have missed over the past six years.

after we come back from NYC, we'll be making a few more changes to the songs we've got for the new record, Steve Osborne will be back out from the UK for a final round of pre-production, and then we'll finally be getting in the studio to track this thing. just like with the TAITA sessions, we'll be keeping a detailed studio journal, and be sharing the process with you in video updates. i can't f'ing wait to make this record. honestly.

be well...we'll see you soon.

The masked, underdog champions of nerd-core, The Aquabats, are back with their first full-length album in six years. The band's most cohesive album to date, Charge!! blends quirky, new wave melodies with the band's hometown signature punk rock sound, concreted with their uniquely sarcastic, Saturday morning cartoon humor. Legions of loyal fans eagerly await this next episode from their rock 'n' roll super heroes, and The Aquabats are ready to deliver, as they embark on a nation-wide traveling road show of unspeakable power this summer.

Pennywise has just launched a new version of their official website pennywisdom.com! They have posted some recent news on the band including touring info and details about the Long Beach Grand Prix show next week. The band is also slated to begin work on their eighth record and follow up to 2003's 'From The Ashes' this week! We have details on the recording straight for the source below.

Studio News

The band will enter the studio to begin work on album 8 this week. We have spent the last few months writing recording and rehearsing new songs and have demoed over 30 songs. They have sorted through them all and will focus on the strongest 16-18 tracks to record for the new album. But there is no telling at this point if all songs recorded will make the final album. Currently they are looking at a mid summer release but remember things often change due to other circumstances. We will have more updates and album info as things start to take shape. During the sessions PW have also recorded Same in the End for a Sublime tribute album that should be released this year

Death By Stereo are set to release their astonishing new album Death For Life June 7 on Epitaph. Produced by “The Factory," Fred Archambault and Bruce MacFarlance (Avenged Sevenfold, Eighteen Visions), Death For Life marks a new sound and dynamic for the band. In anticipation of the new release, Death By Stereo will perform with Shadows Fall on April 7; then kick off a headlining tour April 14, followed by a main supporting slot with Mastodon in May.
